We made a significant donation to Liverpool’s matchday foodbank collection ahead of the clubs’ Premier League match at Anfield on Sunday, May 11.
Our Managing Director, Richard Garlick, visited the donation point to make a personal donation alongside Liverpool CEO, Billy Hogan, and supporters’ groups from both clubs. The contribution returns the gesture Liverpool made at the reverse fixture last season, when the teams met in February 2024.
The donation was delivered through charity partner HIS Church, who we have worked with across a number of years, including the provision of more than half a million free meals for the local community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Liverpool supports the local community by hosting foodbank collections at every home fixture, encouraging fans and staff to donate essential food items. Donations can be made at three key locations: the club’s official retail store at Anfield, Homebaked bakery, and the Fans Supporting Foodbanks unit on Walton Breck Road.
We run our own collections for Islington Foodbank on all weekend home matchdays. The collection point, near the Tony Adams statue and just down the steps from the Ken Friar Bridge, is open for the two hours before kick-off. Preferred donations are tinned fish, baked beans, tinned soup, tinned fruit, shower gel, toothpaste and shampoo.
Islington Foodbank was established in 2011 and operates from Highbury Roundhouse on Ronalds Road. Over the years, Islington Foodbank has become an established pillar of the community, offering services to the most vulnerable members of the community.
