One of the main reasons behind Arsenal's resurgence in the latter half of the present campaign has been the solidity of their back four.

A back four, it must be noted, devoid of three first-choice regulars in Lauren, Sol Campbell and Ashley Cole.

Yet their replacements have proved more than capable deputies - and none have been more impressive than 21-year-old Philippe Senderos.

The former-Servette youngster has formed an almost impregnable central defensive partnership with Kolo Toure to carry the Gunners safely through to the Semi-Finals of the Champions League for the very first time.

And just for good measure, they have set a record number of consecutive clean sheets [8] along the way, usurping Milan's previous best of seven.

Arsenal's opponents on Saturday, West Brom, boast their very own highly-rated young defender in 21-year-old Curtis Davies.

Baggies boss Bryan Robson signed the robust central defender from Championship side Luton Town in August 2005. Davies made just 54 appearances for Luton, scoring two goals, before his move to the Hawthorns and has gone on to score just as many for his new employers in his 28 games to date.

Like Senderos, Davies took the step up to Premiership football with considerable ease and looks more comfortable with top-flight life with every passing game. But what do the stats say about the talented duo?

Senderos has made 32 tackles from his 18 appearances so far this term, winning 21 to achieve an impressive success rate of 66 percent. Davies by comparison has made 50 tackles from his 28 appearances, winning 30, giving him a success rate of 60 percent.

The Arsenal man also marginally edges the passing and dribbling stakes, achieving success rates of 53 and 50 percent respectively, compared with Davies' success rates of 50 and 41 percent respectively.
