Ben White was delighted with his brace in our 5-0 win at home to Chelsea on Tuesday night, but admitted he didn’t intend for his second one to go in!
“I think I was pretty shocked to be fair when it went in,” he said. “It was an amazing ball by Martin, and I got a bit of luck. It’s just one of those, isn’t it? I tried to get it back across goal and it went in the net.”
Asked for his summary of the game overall, White commented on our ruthlessness in front of goal.
“Obviously amazing to get the three points and score five,” he said. “I think we had the opportunities in the first half, they didn’t quite come off, and in the second half we stepped it up and scored some goals.
“We know what we want to do this season, everyone’s in the same line, everyone’s working towards one thing.”
White also shared his thoughts on an intoxicating atmosphere at Emirates Stadium ahead of a huge north London derby on the weekend.
“It was amazing, obviously when it’s going so well, it’s amazing to hear it,” he said. “They help us so much.
[The derby is] “a massive game for us and we’re looking to take all three points.”
