Ben White had plenty to celebrate in our stunning 6-0 win at Sheffield United on Monday, scoring our landmark 10,000th all-time goal to round off the night, as well as playing his part in another clean sheet on the road.
His second half strike, a beauty with his left foot, was a milestone moment for the club, and ensures his name will go down in history. It also made history in terms of the scoreline, we equalled our record away win in the Premier League for the second time in as many months.
“When you go a few goals up early on, it always takes the pressure off,” he said afterwards. “It allows you to enjoy the game, and score more like we did.
“We just played so aggressive from the start, created so many chances and with the players that we’ve got, we put them away today.”
He added that he didn’t know too much about the goal, set up after some wonderful play by Kai Havertz.
“Yeah, I wasn't really sure to be fair. I shot obviously, didn't look where I was shooting and did a little spin, so I didn't actually see the ball go in. But obviously I heard the crowd and was really excited.
“I don't score much, so it's really nice.”
But he said he was just as pleased with the shut out at the other end as he was with his attacking contribution.
“Yeah, definitely. I think you obviously see all the goals and it's all glamorous, but it's tough at the back and we’ve done so well again today.
“Hopefully this is just the start and can kick on for the rest of the season now.”
