Kieran Gibbs believes Arsenal fans are seeing the “real” Aaron Ramsey now after the midfielder delivered another superb display at Fulham.

The Wales international was in fantastic form throughout pre-season and has carried that on during the early stages of the new campaign.

"We all knew what he was capable of and we need him. He's becoming a vital part of the team so hopefully he can stay fit and he'll be helping us out"

Gibbs is pleased to see his close friend show what he is capable of and believes he is developing into a key member of the side.

“We're all aware of his qualities,” the left back said. “He's had a good run of games now - at the end of last season, through pre-season and now - so you're starting to see the real Aaron.

“We all knew what he was capable of and we need him. He's becoming a vital part of the team so hopefully he can stay fit and he'll be helping us out.”

Arsenal face Fenerbahce in the second leg of their Champions League play-off tie on Tuesday night, and Gibbs has called for focus despite the Gunners’ 3-0 lead.

“It has to be like it's 0-0,” he said. “It's a strange one. I remember when we played AC Milan and we were 4-0 down [after the first leg].

“A few of their players were saying that they thought maybe it was over. They got lucky in the end because we put in a top performance [at the Emirates to win 3-0].

“We don't want that happening to us so we have to make sure we're fully prepared for it.”
