‘He can be a real force for us’

Saturday’s match at Anfield will be the first of four fixtures in two weeks, so we’re certainly going to need our squad to be firing on all cylinders in March.

Kieran Gibbs is one player who has been in form recently. The England full back has helped us keep three clean sheets in his last four games, but he is tipping one of his team-mates to make a big impact at the other end of the pitch.

“I feel like a lot of boys that are coming back from injury like Danny Welbeck are wanting to get out there and get going,” Gibbs told Arsenal Player.

“The break would have been disappointing for them because it was a good chance for them to get some game time and play, but this little break has halted that. But it's a good chance to get some good training in and keep the basics of the team, how we want to play, and that side of it is good for the team.”

Welbeck recently admitted that he “hated” playing against Gibbs when they were younger, but our left-back says their battles over the years have helped them get to where they are today.

“We had a lot, me and Danny growing up, and now we're together we laugh about it and go over some of the games we played against each other,” Gibbs said.

“You can tell from his story and his background that he's a winner and he's really had a big impact coming to the club. He's looking the fittest and strongest I've ever seen him.

“It's important we keep him fit and make sure he comes back at the right time and not rush it too much. Someone as powerful as him - when he's well managed - he can be a force for us.”
