Arsenal Football Club’s annual charity fun run, ‘Be a Gunner. Be a Runner’, will return on Saturday, April 5, giving supporters and keen runners worldwide the chance to get fit while raising funds for The Arsenal Foundation.

Ideal for anyone looking for a New Year challenge, the flagship event is set to see large swathes of supporters of all ages descend on Emirates Stadium to complete laps of the Gunners’ home.

Since The Arsenal Foundation was launched, more than £1million has been committed to supporting projects home and away that are benefiting in excess of 100,000 people.

None of these projects would be possible without the incredible support of players, staff and supporters, so in recognition of the Club’s collective efforts, this year’s event will have a special ‘heroes’ theme, with runners encouraged to wear fancy dress on the day, with prizes on offer for the ‘best dressed’.

As in previous years, the race will be split into both an adult and junior event with those aged 15 and over being eligible to enter the 10-lap (6.4km) event, while youngsters aged 14 and under can take part in a shorter one or two-lap race.

Entry to the event for adults costs £15 for adults (aged 15 and over) and £5 for juniors (aged 14 and under). Due to the limited number of spaces available, all adult runners are encouraged to raise a minimum of £150 in sponsorship.

Any runner that manages to raise over £500 for the charity will be deemed a ‘Top Gunner’ and will receive a unique race t-shirt on the day, as well as a special prize as a thank you for their outstanding support.

As well as the main event at Emirates Stadium, last year also saw ‘BAGBAR’ go global once more with individuals and groups across 30 countries taking part in their own organised runs across parks, beaches and even other international stadia.

To make this year’s event even bigger and better, we’re once again looking for individuals or groups around the world to take part and help spread the message of The Arsenal Foundation’s work internationally.

Non UK-based supporters that want to get involved simply need to devise a 6.4km running route within their local territory and email the details to bagbar2014@arsenal.co.uk. All successful applicants will receive a unique race number to wear with pride on the day and overseas runners are also encouraged to raise money for The Arsenal Foundation, with a special prize on offer for the individual or group that raises the highest fundraising amount.

All proceeds from Be a Gunner. Be a Runner. 2014 will go towards The Arsenal Foundation, supporting projects in the UK and overseas that transform the lives of young people. For further information, visit www.arsenal.com/thearsenalfoundation.
