Paul Le Guen will not be joining the coaching staff at Arsenal.

It was reported that the Frenchman would become one of Arsène Wenger's backroom staff after his surprise departure from Lyon. Le Guen has led them to three successive titles and two successive Champions League Quarter-Finals; he included also Wenger's first signing at Arsenal, Remi Garde, among his coaches.

But the Arsenal connections will not be extended any further.

"I know [Le Guen] very well," said Wenger. "He spent some time at our Training Ground in the past. But he will not be coming to Arsenal.

"He is a very good coach and has done a very good job at Lyon. They are a club that is very different to the way English clubs are run. They have a chairman, a technical director and a very good structure around the coaches. It is a completely different system.

"I don't know where he will go now. I am not even sure if he is interested in coming to England."
