About the Double Club

The Arsenal Double Club is an innovative education and football programme which offers a range of subjects, together with football coaching. It aims to fuse football and education together to form a fun and enjoyable way for young people to engage with their academic studies and football at the same time. Most of the modules are aimed at underachieving pupils at Key Stages 2 and 3 but are easily adaptable to suit other needs. The programme’s language modules are often used during Year 9 as a way to provide an exciting, creative and motivating boost before choosing GCSE options.

The Structure of Double Club
The Double Club resembles the two halves of a football match. Pupils participate in a classroom session taken by a teacher, using programme resources for the first 45 minutes. The pupils then take part in a football session taken by an Arsenal trained coach for the second 45 minutes. Many schools run this as an afterschool club from 3:30 to 5:00pm on a day of their choice.

Resources
All Double Club resources are produced by qualified teachers and are developed in partnership with schools and education consultants. They link in with the National Curriculum and attempt to tackle school subjects in a fun way using football related topics. Schools are typically provided with a 5 week scheme of work each half term, teacher's notes, pupil workbooks, text books and interactive starter activities that are all Arsenal related and attractively presented. All resources include up to date match day photos, a free match day programme per pupil each half term, an Arsenal folder and Arsenal pen.

Award-winning
Since its launch, the Arsenal Double Club has won a host of prestigious awards – most recently, the 2012 Threlford Memorial Cup that was awarded by the Chartered Institute of Linguists.

Such is the pioneering nature of the programme, over 300 schools from right across the UK have taken part in the Arsenal Double Club languages programme since 2006.
