WHAT HAPPENED

Chido Martin Obi scored seven goals as our under-18s beat Norwich City 9-0 away from home on Saturday.

He has now scored 28 goals in 22 games this season, including 24 in the last seven.

We made the perfect start when Harrison Dudziak played a lovely ball through to Chido Martin Obi who, in a rich vein of goal scoring form, slotted it into the bottom right for 1-0 inside the first minute of the match.

Martin-Obi volleyed over the bar moments later after a cross had been lifted to the far post by Cam’ron Ismail.

We had a couple of great chances to make it 2-0 when Max Dowman won the ball high up the right wing. His cross came out to Dudziak who hit the post, before a defensive error from Norwich saw Andre Annous hit the crossbar.

We did double our lead though with the next attempt, Martin Obi once again beating the offside trap to calmly place the ball beyond Henry Bullen into the bottom left.

In the 17th minute, Martin Obi completed yet another hat-trick, picking out the bottom right corner from Annous’ pass.

Martin Obi then fired wide of the far post as he hunted his fourth before a long-range strike from Dudziak met the same fate.

In the 28th minute, Dowman played the ball over the top for Martin Obi to run onto and he managed to tuck it past the goalkeeper from a narrow angle for his fourth of the afternoon.

Dudziak linked up with Martin Obi again on the brink of half-time, the latter finding the bottom right once more for 5-0.

Jack Porter was called into action at the start of the second half, tipping a swerving ball over the bar to deny Alfie Doy.

In the 54th minute, Ismail crossed again for Martin Obi who shifted it onto his right foot and found the bottom right corner for 6-0.

Martin Obi bagged again for 7-0 beyond the hour mark, this time a powerful strike from the edge of the area.

He kept going for more, sending a couple of shots wide of the post in a dominant display.

Substitutes combined as Dan Casey played it through to Omari Benjamin who fired wide from close range.

Annous got himself on the scoresheet in the 88th minute with a powerful left-footed strike into the far corner before Casey got in on the act, taking the ball off Martin Obi and smashing it in for 9-0.
