Team news: Tomiyasu starts against Palace

Takehiro Tomiyasu

Mikel Arteta has made one change to his starting XI for tonight’s game against Crystal Palace, with Takehiro Tomiyasu replacing the injured Jurrien Timber.

The Japanese international is named at left-back following our summer signing’s ACL injury against Nottingham Forest, in what is the only change from that 2-1 success that saw us get the campaign off to a winning start.

Meanwhile, Oleksandr Zinchenko returns to the bench after recovering from the calf issue that kept him out of pre-season.

Unsurprisingly, Roy Hodgson hasn’t altered his side that beat Sheffield United 1-0 in their opener, with Sam Johnstone continuing in goal and Jordan Ayew, Eberechi Eze and goalscorer Odsonne Edouard offering the attacking threat.

However, Jean-Philippe Mateta is absent from the bench, with Palace only naming eight substitutes.

Palace: Johnstone, Ward, Andersen, Guehi, Mitchell, Doucoure, Lerma, Ayew, Eze, Achlupp, Edouard.

Subs: Matthews, Clyne, Tomkins, Richards, Riedewald, Ahamada, Rak-Sakyi, Gordon.

Arsenal: Ramsdale, Partey, White, Saliba, Tomiyasu, Rice, Havertz, Odegaard, Saka, Martinelli, Nketiah.

Subs: Raya, Zinchenko, Kiwior, Gabriel, Jorginho, Smith Rowe, Nelson, Vieira, Trossard.
