Saliba on returning to France for UCL action

William Saliba has shared his excitement surrounding Tuesday night’s UEFA Champions League game in his home country, as we take on RC Lens in the group stages.

“It is a really good feeling,” he said. “My second game in the Champions League with Arsenal. I can’t wait to play in France so it is a good feeling.

“Of course, it is always good to be back. I played against lens in France so it is good to show them I have grown up a lot and I have a little experience now.”

We will be looking to continue our impressive start to the Champions League group stages, after we beat PSV Eindhoven 4-0 in the first round of matches.

“We always have confidence,” William added. “We know it won’t be an easy game. It is a really good team who finished second last season. They didn’t start well but in the last two or three games, they are better so we have to be focused on tomorrow and give our best.

“As always, any game there is another story. We forget the first game. Now the second game will be different, we will try to beat Lens. I know it is going to be not easy but every game we want to win and make a clean sheet.”

After missing our Carabao Cup game against Brentford in September, William reassured us that his knock was nothing to worry about.

“It was just a kick that I had before the game,” he said. “It’s not bad and I’m back and ready to play.”
