Wilshere - The secret to our away form

Jack Wilshere believes a strong mentality and togetherness are behind Arsenal's winning streak on the road.

Olivier Giroud’s early strike and Aaron Ramsey’s brace secured a 3-1 victory at Sunderland - a seventh consecutive away win and one that took Arsenal to the summit of the league.

Wilshere was pleased with the outcome at the Stadium of Light and feels the team have taken a must-win approach into the new campaign.

"We all get on really well here. We've got a great set of lads and we've been together for four or five years now"

“I think we've carried that on from last season,” he told Arsenal Player. “There was a mentality at the end of last season where we had to win games. We had to get that fourth spot.

“We've carried that on into this season so far, especially with the away results. We seem to play really well away from home and hopefully we can take that form into the home games now as well.

“We all get on really well here. We've got a great set of lads and we've been together for four or five years now, most of us. We're starting to build a real friendship and I think that's shown on the pitch.”

Mesut Ozil made his Arsenal debut at the weekend and Wilshere was impressed with the German playmaker’s contribution.

“He's a top quality player,” Wilshere said.

“We play football and he's going to fit in. He's shown that after one game. There's a lot more to come from him and if he can stay fit and get in that position a lot more, if we can get him on the ball behind their midfield, he's going to cause the opposition a big problem and he showed that today.”
