Alex Scott surprises local school kids

Alex Scott recently surprised local pupils at one of Arsenal in the Community’s after-school football sessions.

The Arsenal Ladies captain visited Princess May primary school in Hackney, where she met two of her biggest fans before playing a game of football with the whole team.

Two year five pupils, Sarah and Alicia, were chosen to feature in a short video about the work that Arsenal in the Community coaches do in their school. Both pupils have excelled in their football sessions and are both huge Arsenal Ladies supporters.

Similarly to Sarah and Alicia, Alex Scott’s passion for football story started by attending Arsenal in the Community sessions as a schoolgirl when she was growing up.

Our coaches have been delivering weekly PE lessons at Princess May school, as well as coaching their boys and girls football teams after school.

Arsenal in the Community also supports dozens of local primary schools in subjects across the curriculum through the Premier League Primary Stars programme.

As well as providing PE lessons, Primary Stars also supports schools with PSHE, literacy and numeracy activities as well as holding a number of different leagues, tournaments and competitions throughout the academic year.

Arsenal in the Community Officer, Adam Kaliniecki, said: "We're delighted to be able to support our local schools in a range of subjects including PE. The children love seeing the Arsenal coaches every week but a visit from Alex was extra special.

"Alex is an amazing role model to all young people, though especially to girls. It was great for Sarah, Alicia and all of the children at the school to see what someone like them has gone on to achieve with determination and hard work.

"Alex has shown them what they can go on to do if they are passionate about something and try their best.”
