Youth teams progress to finals

Our Development Team and our Regional Talent Club's U-16s have progressed to the finals of the Development Cup and Girls' FA Youth Cup.

Both teams are the current holders of the cups and will head to St George’s Park on May 20 to defend their titles. The Development Team, coached by former player Kelly Smith, will play Bristol City Ladies whilst the RTC's U-16s will take on Millwall Lionesses.

Tessa Payne, Technical Director of our RTC, said: "To reach the Girls’ FA Youth Cup final for three consecutive years is a fantastic achievement by all players and staff and shows the strength of talent within our youth programme, along with Arsenal’s ongoing commitment to the women’s game.

"We’ve had some challenging games in the cup and we expect nothing less of Millwall, but we are excited to be heading back to St George’s Park to defend the title."

Kelly Smith, Head Coach of the Development Team, added: "We’re delighted to be heading to the finals of the Development Cup, and the reward of playing at St George’s is perfect for the players and staff who have given everything to each game."
