Cech - It’s great to have Jack back

15/16: Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur - Petr Cech
Cech

Petr Cech spoke to the media after Arsenal's draw with Sunderland. Below is a transcript of what he said:

on the point…
I thought that we should have scored in the first half. We had chances to get the lead but that doesn’t make a difference when you don’t score. They are fighting for their lives and they obviously had that motivation and once the got into the game, it became a difficult day. They have done really well. I thought we kept the ball well and created enough chances with our possession but we waited too long for an opportunity. I think we need to find a way to put it into the back of the net and we didn’t do so.

on the second half…
I thought that we were in the game as much as them. We matched them in terms of ambition and motivation but as I said, you need to score a goal but once they kept it 0-0, it was the result they needed. They were waiting for their chance to come and score and it was dangerous until the last minute but it is very disappointing that from the possession we had, in and outside their box, we couldn’t find a goal.

on form…
We don’t seem to [be able to] kill the game off in the last two weeks and we dropped twice points and now the fight is to get the best position for the Champions League.

on getting Champions League…
You need to start winning games. We have three games to play and we need to get as many points as we can. I don’t think it will be enough to finish in the top two now as the other teams have taken advantage of our two points dropped.

on Jack Wilshere…
It is great to have him back. When you are working so hard, one the first one when he was trying to come back and to see him getting good again, it was really unlucky for him. He was spending hours training and coming back and he fully deserves to be back on the pitch. Hopefully he will get fit enough because he can be a massive help for England at the Euros.
