Steve Gatting has hailed Stephy Mavididi’s impressive performance against Stoke City on Saturday.
The striker claimed a brace as Arsenal Under-21s won 3-1, despite being reduced to 10 men in difficult conditions in Staffordshire.
The Gunners had to work hard after Dan Crowley’s red card and Gatting was pleased with his side’s defensive discipline.

“I thought we passed the ball well and the key was to defend and not go a goal down. It worked out as we did defend well the whole game with 10 men so I was pleased with that,” he told Arsenal Player.
“I thought it was a very disciplined performance from us. It is a hard place to come and play Stoke away on a pitch like we did with the wind. We had 10 men and and Stephy did well for the 20 minutes where we had 10 men.
"He made himself available for the counter-attacks and he had a chance 10 minutes before that where he did well very well and he took his goal - that sealed the win for us.
"If we play like that every week we will be near the top. It is all about performances not results but they normally go hand in hand.”
