Chambers - It got tense at the end

Calum Chambers believes a combination of flair and steel paved the way for Arsenal’s 3-2 victory at Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.

Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil gave Arsene Wenger’s side a commanding two-goal lead at the break, but the visitors endured a nervy finale after Chris O’Grady and Sam Baldock strikes sandwiched Tomas Rosicky’s second-half volley.

Chambers set up the opener for Walcott and was pleased to advance to the last 16.

"It is an opportunity for us but we’ve got to go into every game fully focused, give it 100 per cent and prepare for every game as well as we can"

“It got a bit tense towards the end,” he told Arsenal Player. “I thought that we did really well in the first half and dominated most of the game.

“We held out and it was a good result in the end, so we’re through to the next round.

“It is an opportunity for us but we’ve got to go into every game fully focused, give it 100 per cent and prepare for every game as well as we can.

“Brighton are a good side. We came here, we prepared ourselves for a tough game, had a game plan in mind and as a team we played well.

“Sometimes we have to see out the game a bit better than we do but we held our defensive line strong and we got the result in the end.

“It was a fantastic win [at Manchester City] and a good win here as well. There’s a good atmosphere in the squad at the moment so we’ve got to keep it going.”
