Loan Watch: Martinez keeps clean sheet

Every season a number of Arsenal players go out on loan to gain valuable first-team experience. With the 2013/14 campaign now underway, 13 Gunners are currently away from the Club.

Damian Martinez kept a clean sheet in Sheffield Wednesday's convincing victory over 10-man QPR. Chris Maguire gave the Owls the lead from the spot after Richard Dunne was sent off and further strikes from Leon Best and Lewis Buxton put the seal on a comfortable evening. Benik Afobe played the final seven minutes.

Joel Campbell lasted the duration as Olympiacos were knocked out of the Champions League at Old Trafford. Former Gunner Robin van Persie did the damage, netting a hat-trick to send David Moyes' side through to the quarter-finals. Olympiacos had gone into the second leg with a two-goal lead but could not find the away goal that would have sent them through to the last eight.

Josh Vickers' involvement with Arsenal's under-19 side in Barcelona kept him out of this home defeat at The Prospects Stadium. James Crane and Arron Hopkinson scored within three first-half minutes to put Bognor in control and, though John Sands pulled one back for the hosts, Ollie Pearce's late goal secured an away victory.
