Interview

Lacasse: "We wanted the win for our supporters"

With two goals to her name, Cloe Lacasse was instrumental in our Conti Cup win over London City Lionesses on Wednesday night.

Here's everything the Canadian winger had to say after the full-time whistle:

on reaching the semi-finals of the Conti Cup...

It was fantastic. I mean, coming into this game, we knew we wanted to get a victory for ourselves and for our supporters after what just happened this weekend. And we got those three points to be able to continue going forward in the tournament so it’s positive.

Now, we have this big weekend game so yeah, we’re going to take this momentum going forward.

on her performance...

Any time you come on the pitch, you wanna contribute - whether that be a goal or an assist. But at the end of the day, as long as we get that victory. It’s a sweet victory but of course, when you score, it’s a little bit sweeter.

on how the win will affect team morale going into Saturday...

I think for us, it's very important when we get a two-goal advantage, we don't want to get comfortable. We don't want to just sit in and get flat with that. So it was really important to come into that second half and continue to want to score, continue to build off of what we're trying to build up. For the weekend, we want to have some of these moments as well.

on how much she's looking forward to playing United...

I think the whole team is very excited to go to the Emirates this weekend. We can't wait to see what's gonna happen out there with the supporters behind us. It's a big match for us and we're really looking forward to it.
