Katie Reid on “unreal” senior debut

Katie Reid became our latest academy talent to make a senior debut on Sunday evening.

The 17-year-old centre-back came on for the final few minutes of our 5-0 victory over Bristol City in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

“It was honestly unreal,” said Katie after the full-time whistle, reflecting on the experience. “Even now, I can't even describe how insane it was: the adrenaline on the pitch, the fan support. Honestly, I just loved it. It was amazing.”

Katie swapped places with Leah Williamson in the 87th minute - another Arsenal academy centre-back who made her senior debut aged 17.

“Just playing next to Leah and Lotte - these world class centre backs - I can't even begin to describe how amazing it is. The support they give me, it's just mad.”

Her fellow young Gunners, Michelle Agyemang and Vivienne Lia, have also recently made their first appearances in the red and white, making this moment all the more notable for Katie.

“It's so special because it shows what an opportunity you can have as well. We all train together, we all work hard together, we're all in support of each other.

“To be able to do it almost as a group because we did it in such a short space of time, it just feels so amazing.”
