Jonas on six wins in a row and clean sheet

Jonas Eidevall was delighted with our 3-0 win away to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Barclays Women’s Super League on Sunday afternoon, which represented our sixth win in a row in all competitions.

“I think we played well, we managed the ball well, we had a really good balance between quicker attacks and sustained attacks,” he said. “We were aggressive in our pressing and gave them little time and space, so it was nice to see.

“Sometimes you need to deal with adverse situations in football matches, but of course it helps to be in better situations for it, and that’s going to open up the game in a positive way for us. We much prefer this, but we need to be able to handle that part as well.”

From a defensive point of view, the centre-back pairing of Lotte Wubben-Moy and Amanda Ilestedt looked cool, calm and composed throughout the game.

“Yeah, strong in their duel play,” Jonas added. “I think we got a well-deserved clean sheet today and we’ve been working really hard on that of course for a long time, so it’s really nice to see that we got some reward for that.”

Our first goal of the game came courtesy of a Stina swivel, Blackstenius missing the ball but then turning to shoot it into the top left corner.

“It was almost like a 360 turn, right?! She was in the right place at the right time, I think she continues a really good start to the season, being quite clinical with her chances, which is really important,” Jonas said. “She’s scored another goal and that’s really important for us, and it gave us a good start to the game.”

The Gooners behind the goal were in fine voice throughout the afternoon and Jonas said it was great to see them turn up in their numbers once again.

“Yeah, they’re such a big part of what we’re trying to do,” he said. “They give us so much energy and pride of representing this club, so I don’t really have enough words to thank them, but they’re amazing, we hear them, and we want to work our very best to reward them.”
