1. Arsenal 2-2 Manchester City
September 13, 2014
After Arsenal won 3-0 against Manchester City in the Community Shield a month earlier, many were expecting a big response from the visitors - and that is what they got when Sergio Aguero put them ahead. The Gunners equalised through Jack Wilshere’s superb solo goal but it was Alexis’ finish that proved the highlight. Aaron Ramsey’s cross was cleared but Wilshere headed back into the box for Alexis to volley first time into the top corner and win Arsenal’s Goal of the Month award for September.

2. Arsenal 1-2 Southampton
September 23, 2014
A young Arsenal side were knocked out of the Capital One Cup in September but Alexis gave the fans something to smile about with his fourth goal of the season. The Chilean was fouled 25 yards out by Jose Fonte, and he stepped up to whip an inch-perfect free kick into the top corner to give the hosts the lead. It was a fabulous effort that brought the Emirates to its feet in appreciation.

3. Arsenal 4-1 Liverpool
April 4, 2015
What a way to cap a supreme first-half display. Hector Bellerin and Mesut Ozil had put Arsenal in control with two goals in three minutes, before Alexis scored his 20th of the season on the stroke of half-time - and in some style. Receiving the ball from Aaron Ramsey, the Chile forward showed quick feet to escape Kolo Toure’s lunge before taking a touch and, from 20 yards, lashing a shot beyond Simon Mignolet and into the roof of the net.

4. Arsenal 4-0 Aston Villa
May 30, 2015
After such a dramatic end to the 2014 FA Cup final, Arsene Wenger stressed the importance of a fast start against Aston Villa this time around. Theo Walcott broke the deadlock at Wembley before Per Mertesacker and Olivier Giroud’s second-half goals added the gloss to a dominant performance by Arsenal, but Alexis’ strike was the pick of the bunch. Collecting a loose ball 25 yards from goal, the Chile forward took a couple of touches to set himself before smashing an unstoppable strike off the underside of the crossbar as the Gunners’ cruised to a record-breaking 12th FA Cup.

5. Arsenal 3-0 Manchester United
October 4, 2015
Arsenal had not beaten Manchester United in the Premier League for four years but ended that run in sensational style, scoring three goals during a breathless 14-minute blitz at Emirates Stadium. Alexis scored twice and, while his thunderbolt of a second goal was good, his first was arguably better. United had struggled to contain the Gunners’ rapid counter-attacks in the opening exchanges and it only took Arsene Wenger’s side six minutes to break the deadlock. Aaron Ramsey threaded through Mesut Ozil who, at full stretch, pulled back for Alexis to spectacularly flick past David de Gea from six yards.
