Arsenal Ladies took on Millwall Lionessess in the London County
Cup Final last night, in a repeat of last year's Final which
the Gunners won 2-0.

Previously, Arsenal also played Millwall in a pre-season
friendly and the result was a close 1-0 in the Gunners favour, so
with these two results in mind they knew that it wouldn't be an
easy game.

The Gunners team line up was a mixture of youth andexperience
and they started off brightly dominating the play.

They were rewarded for their possession early in the first half
when Yvonne Tracy met Lianne Sanderson's corner with a glancing
header past the Millwall keeper.

Arsenal looked comfortable and the young players began to settle
more into the game. Sanderson made it 2-0 before the half when she
struck a low driven shot into the corner of the goal.

Millwall came out strong in the second half and were awarded a
free kick just outside the box in the early minutes.

A perfectly placed free kick from defender Amy Mason gave the
young Arsenal keeper no chance and Millwall a lifeline.

Arsenal then made some early substitutions with Grant, White and
Ludlow coming on.

Arsenal continued to pressure the Millwall goal and had many
chances to finish the game off but the Millwall goalkeeper made
some outstanding saves keeping the score at 2-1.

Just before the final whistle Ludlow got her goal with a fine
strike on the edge of the box.
