Arsenal Under-18s recorded a morale-boosting victory ahead of Wednesday's FA Youth Cup Semi-Final visit of Manchester United by defeating Cardiff on Saturday.
It was the second time the two sides had met in recent weeks after Arsenal knocked the Bluebirds out of the Youth Cup in the Quarter-Final at Emirates Stadium last month.
On that occasion Jay Simpson bagged a superb hat-trick in a 3-2 win. The striker was left on the bench this time but Kieran Gibbs and Rhys Murphy ensured another triumph.
Midfielder Gibbs opened the scoring as early as the 10th minute - a lead the young Gunners took into the break. England Under-17 striker Murphy notched his 12th of the season on 75 minutes to double Arsenal's advantage and although the hosts hit back when Mark Jones converted a penalty, Steve Bould's side held on.
