Benik Afobe

Talented striker Benik was forced to spend eight months on the sidelines at the beginning of the 2011/12 season after picking up a serious groin injury in pre-season against New York Red Bulls.

The England youth international returned with a string of appearances in Neil Banfield’s reserves, scoring on his comeback against Norwich in February.

The powerful youngster’s return earned him a loan move to Reading in the Championship, where he made three appearances and helped the Royals secure the league title and promotion back to the Premier League.

Benik also played a key role in England’s 2012 Under-19 European Championship in Estonia and featured during the Club’s 2012 tour of Asia.

Last season Benik spent the first five months on loan at Bolton Wanderers where he scored three times in 21 appearances. Benik then joined Millwall on a temporary basis though his season was prematurely ended after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
