It is the ultimate purchase for any Gunners fan!
The launch date for The Stadium, Highbury Square, the residential redevelopment of the world famous Arsenal Football Club, has been announced!
The apartments and penthouses will go on sale on October 29, 2005. The Stadium, Highbury Square offers the ultimate house purchase for any Gunners fan, the chance to own a piece of Premiership football history in what is believed to be the world's first sporting stadium to be converted into apartments. Interested football fans can register at www.thestadium-highbury.com.
The ground, stands and pitch are to be redesigned into 711 high-spec studios, one, two and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses. The art deco façades of the existing Grade II-Listed East Stand, as will its famous Marble Halls, and the locally-listed West Stand will be preserved, in order to retain the iconic status of the Club. Fans can even buy an apartment on the site of the former changing rooms. The North and South Stands will be replaced by new-build apartments in a contemporary style designed to harmonise with the East and West Stands.
Paying tribute to the football terraces' original rectangular arrangement, the apartments will face inwards towards a central garden square occupying the exact dimensions of the former pitch which will be the focal point for the development. This two-acre garden square, designed by Chelsea Gold medal winner Christopher Bradley-Hole, will be the largest private garden square in the area. In homage to the former pitch, the garden will be criss-crossed by stone paths evoking its original chalk lines and will contain a memorial garden.
Facilities will include underground car parking, a fitness centre with swimming pool and 24-hour concierge.
Prices will start from £285,000 which includes the option to buy two Arsenal Season Tickets. The first ten buyers to sign on the dotted line on the October 29, 2005 will receive a football shirt signed by the current team. Car parking spaces will be available. Final completion is anticipated for 2010.
The redevelopment of Arsenal Stadium is the centerpiece of one of the largest regeneration programmes in the UK. This includes the provision of new retail and leisure facilities, medical centres, nursery schools and the new Emirates Stadium. Public transport enhancements include the upgrading and refurbishment of Drayton Park, Finsbury Park and Holloway Road rail and tube stations.
