The Arsenal Charity Ball, which took place at Highbury on Monday 8th May, raised over £60,000 for the Club's Charity of the Season, The David Rocastle Trust and The Arsenal Charitable Trust which distributes funds to local causes.
The spectacular black tie event hosted by Arsenal Legend, Bob Wilson, was held at Highbury to celebrate the Gunners' final season at its Art Deco home and a champagne reception was held on the pitch before moving to the Final Salute Club in the South Stand.
David Rocastle's team-mates and Arsenal Legends attended to support the event and amongst the guests were Ian Wright, Michael Thomas, Alan Smith, Kenny Sansom, Anders Limpar, Perry Groves, Terry Murphy, George Graham, Steve Bould and Premiership stars Emmanuel Eboue and Andy Cole.
Mark Adams from the West End hit, The Rat Pack, performed Dean Martin classics and a Grand Auction helped raise £27,000 for good causes.
Arsenal Legendary goalkeeper, Bob Wilson said: "It was a fantastic evening and it was a pleasure to catch up with so many familiar faces for such a good cause. It was a fantastic way to bid farewell to this great stadium and pay tribute to Rocky."
Following consultation with Arsenal supporters and overwhelming support for the initiative, The David Rocastle Trust was founded last season. The charity was established to assist David's family, support community projects in 'Rocky's' name and assist its beneficiaries, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity and Cancer Research UK.
Since its formation in 1992 the Arsenal Charitable Trust has raised more than £2 million and annually distributes funds to local causes; grants are applied for and processed by a local community grants committee and finally approved by the Arsenal Trustees.
Hospitals, disability groups, charities for children and youth feature prominently amongst the donations made by the Trust.
