PL Player of the Season nods for Odegaard and Rice

Odegaard

Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice have been shortlisted for this season’s Premier League Player of the Year award.

The pair are in contention to scoop the division’s top individual accolade after enjoying fantastic seasons in our midfield, fueling our championship challenge with their superb displays throughout the campaign.

Martin has been included in the list of nominees for the second season in a row after another excellent year skippering our young side.

He has scored eight goals and produced eight further assists in 33 appearances pulling the strings in our midfield and pressing from the front as he looks to be the first Arsenal captain in 20 years to get his hands on the Premier League trophy.

Rice

Dovetailing nicely with him is Declan, who has enjoyed a stellar first season at Emirates Stadium following his summer switch from West Ham United. He has matched Martin’s output for goal involvements, scoring seven times and assisting nine more, setting personal highs in the process as he proves to be a key figure linking our defence and attack. He has also netted last-gasp goals against Manchester United and Luton Town to help us claim vital points in our quest for the title.

There are six other players included on the shortlist, including four players also vying for the Young Player of the Year award with Bukayo Saka and William Saliba.

The current holder of both player awards is Erling Haaland, and he is up for both prizes again this season as is his Manchester City teammate Phil Foden, Alexander Isak of Newcastle United and Chelsea youngster Cole Palmer.

The other two players up for the Player of the Year award are Aston Villa and England striker Ollie Watkins, while Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk is also recognised.

Supporters can vote for their star performer, with their votes combined by the selections of a panel to determine the overall winner.

You can boost Martin or Declan’s chances by voting now, with the ballot closing on midday on Monday, May 13.
