Arsenal surpass 100 goals in 2023/24

The ball in the net after Arsenal scored against Chelsea

During our 5-0 thrashing of Chelsea on Tuesday night, we smashed through the 100-goal milestone for the 2023/24 campaign in our 48 matches so far.

Sitting on 99 strikes for the campaign heading into the game with the Blues, it took just four minutes for Leandro Trossard to net the milestone goal, and ensure that we hit three figures in a campaign for the 23rd time in our history, before braces from Ben White and Kai Havertz saw us move onto 104.

For comparison, last season saw us net 103 times in 49 games, although a club-record 88 of those came in the Premier League. Our five-goal haul against the Blues saw us creep within striking range of that figure, as we are now up to 82 with four games still to go.

As well as that tally, we bagged 19 in the Champions League, while two more arrived in the League Cup and Trossard’s late strike set us on our way to claiming the Community Shield back in August.

Leo is right in the hunt for the club’s top scorer prize this season, with his 15 strikes second only to Bukayo Saka, who has 18.

Havertz (12) and Martin Odegaard (11) are the other players to have hit double figures this campaign so far, with Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli also hoping to find two more goals between now and the season’s end to reach that mark.

17 different Gunners have netted for us this campaign, with four own goals also falling in our favour. Eddie Nketiah is the only player to have completed a hat-trick during the season, when he put Sheffield United to the sword back in October.

While there are still a few more matches to play to add to our current total, we still have some way to go if we’re to ever hit our greatest-ever goalscoring campaign.

We found the net 135 times in 1930/31, including an incredible 127 in our 42 First Division matches on the way to clinching the title for the first time in our history.
