Timber's strike wins Emirates Goal of the Month

Jurrien Timber's superb strike in his comeback game against Blackburn Rovers under-21s has won our Emirates Goal of the Month for April.

The Dutch defender's much-anticipated return following his ACL injury couldn't have gone much better as he got back out onto the field for the first time since August, and made an eye-catching impression by finding the net just seven minutes into the game at Ewood Park.

He collected the ball on the edge of the hosts' area, and after chopping back inside to confuse a defender, he set himself up to curl a powerful right-footed strike towards goal, which kissed the corner of post and bar on its way into the net to make it look even more spectacular.

Reflecting on his goalscoring return, Jurrien remarked: “It’s been eight months, it’s been a long time and it's hard to put into words how I feel. Just being out there feels amazing, and even now it feels strange. But I feel happy and blessed to be out there and it’s nice to score a goal as well.”

"Even that felt strange. I didn’t quite register it at first, probably because I don’t score a lot of goals. Maybe that's changed after all the rehab! But it felt amazing and a reward for all the hard work.”
