After training pupils and students at local schools and colleges, recently it has been the turn of the Arsenal staff to learn all about the environment and climate change.
Expertly delivered by our friends at Sustained Futures, staff from across all sites and all departments were able to come together for sessions at Emirates Stadium and Sohba Realty Training Centre.
Understanding the issues is the best way to be able to start positive action, and that is exactly what Sustained Futures were able to facilitate. Groups of staff from all corners of the club took part in the discussions, with staff able to identify areas where they can start to impact the emissions of the club as we strive towards our SBTi emission reduction targets.
From the food we eat and supply to supporters, players and staff, to how staff travel to and from work and matches, we were able to start to understand the impact that small changes to our lives – both working and social – can have. The amount of waste and energy consumed across all our sites was one of the many topics, discussed, with staff able to see how we are all responsible for making the changes, regardless of how big or small, which will enable Arsenal to meet the emission reduction targets.
It isn’t just those who work for Arsenal who are able to make an impact. By choosing to use public transport, eating less meat and being more conscious of our waste of energy, we can all make a valuable contribution.
Hannah Mansour, Director of ESG at Arsenal, said, “We have set an ambitious goal to reduce our emissions to net zero by 2040, validated by the Science Based Target initiative. The workshops with Sustained Futures are helping to build momentum towards our goal by creating a shared responsibility across Arsenal to act for our environment.
“Matching our investment in upskilling our people with an investment in upskilling local young people ensures we are also working with our local community to build sustainability and resilience for the future.”

The sessions highlighted how club employees could take positive action
