WHAT HAPPENED

We surrendered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Blackburn Rovers on Monday night at Meadow Park.

Kevin Betsy handed a start to George Lewis in attack, while Joel Ideho was also given the nod after impressing off the bench against Middlesbrough.

We had the game's first real chance, Miguel Azeez forcing Antonis Stergiakis into a good save with a free-kick from the edge of the area.

Our midfielder broke the deadlock minutes later, latching onto a brilliant through ball from Nathan Butler-Oyedeji and making no mistake with his finish inside the box.

We doubled our advantage through Lino Sousa, our defender scoring his first goal for us after reacting quickest in the box to the rebound from George Lewis' strike.

The visitors pulled one back just before the break, Joe Ferguson working space in the box, turning well and firing into the top corner past Hubert Graczyk.

We started the second half impressively and almost added our third through Ideho, our Dutch forward's effort crashing against the bar, before Alex Kirk went close with a header in what was a flurry of chances.

Graczyk was forced into a string of impressive stops to keep us in front, first denying Jack Vale with a fingertip save over the bar, before keeping out Jake Garrett's strike from close range.

Blackburn's pressure eventually told as Vale restored parity in the closing stages, rounding Graczyk when through one-on-one and finishing into the empty net.

We mounted a late charge, but time was against us, and we had to settle for a point in our final match of the season at Meadow Park.

We stay second in the Premier League 2, nine points behind the leaders, Manchester City, after 22 matches.
