'You watch Arsenal here growing up - it's special'

McCabe

Katie McCabe admitted it was a special moment to play Bayern Munich in her first game at Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

The Republic of Ireland international put in a lively performance and was proud to walk out in front of our fans - but was disappointed not to mark it with a victory.

We spoke to McCabe after our 1-0 loss and this is what she said:

on playing Bayern Munich in pre-season…

Yeah it was a great test, obviously they’re a strong side, champions of Germany and play regularly in the Champions League and it was a great test for us it’s just a pity about the result. We can take plenty of positives from today I thought that we played well and I think we gifted them the ball at times which is unlike us but there were plenty of positives to take from today as it was our first game of pre-season.

on playing at Emirates Stadium…

It was pretty special, you watch Arsenal play here growing up, so to walk out and play in front of the fans! I would have liked to have got the win for the fans but it was a pretty special moment.

on Danielle Carter being stretchered off…

I’m hoping it’s not as bad as it looks. Dan’s a great girl and she’s obviously come back from an ACL injury from the last year so whatever the outcome, she’ll come out fighting. She takes everything in her stride and she’s done really well with the ACL injury coming back, I’m hoping it’s not as bad as it looks.
