Northern Ireland 0-1 Switzerland
Granit Xhaka played the full 90 minutes as Switzerland beat Northern Ireland 1-0 in their World Cup qualifying play-off first leg. Ricardo Rodriguez scored the winner from the spot on the hour mark, after Corry Evans was deemed to have handled the ball in the area.
Xhaka threatened too, volleying just over the crossbar inside the first half, as Switzerland eventually secured an away goal to swing the tie firmly in their favour ahead of Sunday's second leg in Basel.
