World Cup Wrap-Up: Ramsdale v Anchorman!

Aaron Ramsdale in training for England

Throughout the next few weeks, we'll be keeping you up to date on what our Gunners stars have been getting up to with our World Cup Wrap-Ups.

Take a look at our third edition, which sees Aaron Ramsdale go head-to-head with Hollywood, Matt Turner receive a gift and William Saliba potentially seeing some match action.

Rambo v Will Farrell

This evening, four of our Gunners could be involved as England take on the USA. A win for the Three Lions would see Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White and Bukayo Saka guarantee their qualification to the knockout rounds, while Matt Turner's USA will be hoping for their first win after a hard-fought draw with Wales.

Ahead of the game, Aaron has been involved in a war of words with Hollywood star Will Ferrell, who is a huge supporter of the US team.

However, Aaron was much more complimentary when he had a chat with Gunners legend David Seaman.

Silverware for Turner

Meanwhile, Turner already has something shiny to take home with him - not a World Cup winners medal quite yet but a bracelet from national team boss Gregg Berhalter.

The US manager presented all of his squad the jewellery to congratulate them on making it to the finals, saying: "We want something that will close the bond and will always represent the bond we have together."

Friends reuWhited

As part of England's social media coverage between games, White paid a visit to their Diary Room alongside teammate Kalvin Phillips, whom he also played with at Leeds United.

The pair chatted about how they're spending their downtime during matches, as well as testing each other on some details into their lives off the pitch.

Saka feels the love

Bukayo Saka in training for England

Also in the England camp, Saka has spoken about his backing from the stands, which has only intensified following his two-goal haul against Iran in the opening game.

"The love I've had from the England fans has been special and it means everything to me. When you hear your name being sung by the crowd and them cheering you on, it makes you want to give more for them and to do even better for them.

"It’s nice to think that kids are now looking up to me. I hope I can continue to inspire them, be a good role model for them and make them proud and happy. I always try to conduct myself in the best way possible because I know there are children who look up to me and are watching everything that I do.

"To any kids looking to become a footballer, you have to love football, you have to enjoy it and always play with a smile on your face, and just give everything you can to make the most of your potential."

Tomiyasu injury scare

Takehiro Tomiyasu in action against Germany

After playing his part in their 2-1 win over Germany on Wednesday, Takehiro Tomiyasu is apparently a doubt for the Japan's next match against Costa Rica on Saturday.

According to Kyodo News, Japan's media officer told reporters post-match that our defender is apparently struggling with a hamstring issue - the same ailment that saw him miss our final few matches before the break for the World Cup.

Xhaka's pride

Granit Xhaka's Switzerland got their World Cup campaign up and running with a 1-0 win again Cameroon on Thursday, and our midfielder played the full 90 minutes.

Post-match, he reflected on his achievement of skippering his nation at a World Cup finals, saying on Instagram: "What an honour to captain my country at the World Cup. Perfect start - lots for us to build on!"

Saliba sees match action?

William Saliba in training for France

According to reports, France boss Didier Deschamps kept those members of his squad who dodn't play against Australia fresh by organising a friendly against Qatari side Al Gharafa on Thursday evening.

That means William Saliba was likely to have gotten some gametime behind closed doors, which saw Les Bleus run out 4-0 victors, following up their four-goal haul against the Aussies.
