After a few busy days for our players at the World Cup, Monday was quieter - with only one of our first-team squad involved.

Danny Welbeck was an unused substitute as England began their campaign with a 2-1 win over Tunisia in Group G.

Gareth Southgate’s side were quick out the blocks and took the lead in the 11th minute through Harry Kane, but just ten minutes before halftime, Ferjani Sassi equalised from the spot.

England were on the verge of sharing the spoils after failing to take a number of golden opportunities, but when Harry Maguire leapt high from a corner to knock the ball down, Kane was there to snatch all three points deep into stoppage time.

The result means that England have risen up to second in Group G, behind Belgium on goal difference only. Welbeck will have another opportunity to feature for England against Panama on Sunday at 1pm (UK time).
