Alex Iwobi made his World Cup debut as Nigeria faced Croatia in Group D on Saturday evening - read on for how he got in.

Our No 17 started in Kaliningrad, but a goal in each half consigned his Super Eagles side to defeat.

Croatia took the lead shortly after the half hour, when Andrej Kramaric's effort was knocked past his own goalkeeper by Oghenekaro Etebo.

Iwobi came close to equalising just before the break, his fierce shot blocked away, before he was substituted by Ahmed Musa on the hour.

But Nigeria couldn't find a way back into the game and Luka Modric sealed Croatia's win with a penalty soon after.

The result leaves Nigeria bottom of Group D after Iceland, who the Super Eagles face in their next game, held Argentina to a draw earlier on Saturday.
