Joe Montemurro’s side will be looking for back-to-back wins in the Women’s Super League on Wednesday night when they face Yeovil Town Ladies at Dorchester FC.
THE STORY SO FAR
Vivianne Miedema hit a hat-trick on the opening day of the WSL season, as we defeated Liverpool 5-0 at Meadow Park
Lisa Evans and Kim Little also worked their way on to scoresheet, while Miedema became the first Arsenal player to score a hat-trick in the WSL since Kelly Smith in September 2014.
Outside of the WSL, we’ve picked up maximum points from our first two outings in the Continental Tyres Cup. We beat West Ham United in our first appearance of the season, before recording a comprehensive 9-0 win over Lewes Women last Sunday.
Both Kim Little and Miedema scored hat-tricks, while Danielle van de Donk, Katie McCabe and Evans also found the back of the net.
THE OPPOSITION
Yeovil head into this fixture struggling for form, having lost their opening four fixtures of the season.
They’ve also failed to score in three of those four outings, with Olivia Fergusson scoring their only goal of the season so far.
They travelled to Reading Women on the opening day of the WSL season, but the hosts ran out 4-0 winners in Yeovil’s first game as full-time professionals.
Lee Burch’s side have now conceded 2.5 goals per game, and scored an average of 0.25 goals per game.
THE MANAGER’S NOTES
Arsenal.com asked Joe Montemurro what he wants to see from his side on Wednesday - and this is what he said:
“We’ve introduced some new concepts and new ideas and now the team are really starting to take to it.
“We have the ability to play certain players into certain positions where we can help them grow and get them to understand the fluidity of the way that we want to play, so it’s all been positives from that point of view - and that’s what I want to see on Wednesday.
“We’re always keeping an eye on the physical aspect of our players, though, because playing three games before going into the internationals is going to be quite tiring for the players.”
