Williams – What I’ve learned in England so far

Lydia Williams

Lydia Williams learned plenty during her first year in north London.

The Australia international joined us from Melbourne City last summer and has made 11 appearances across all competitions, battling alongside Manuela Zinsberger for a place in the starting XI.

“It’s so technical [here in England]!” Williams told Arsenal.com. “That’s probably the biggest difference, that everyone has wonderful technique and they can read the game and know how to use that on the football pitch.

“It’s been great to use my brain and learn some new skills and everything, especially here at Arsenal where there’s wonderful international players, which is incredible. I’ve never been in such a team that has such a wealth of experience.

“It was a pretty rough start for me being injured at the first little bit of [last season], but everyone has been so lovely and took me under their wing to make sure that I had everything that I needed. Obviously the club, the staff and most importantly my team-mates have all made me feel so welcome and I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far.”
