Fourteen of our men’s first-team could be in action for their national teams during the international break, with Bukayo Saka and Aaron Ramsdale potentially meeting some familiar faces in England action.
The duo have been called up by the Three Lions as the Euro 2024 qualification campaign gets underway. They will face clubmates in both of their matches during this international window, as they kick off with a trip to Jorginho’s Italy on Thursday night.
Following that, Buyako and Aaron return to home soil for a meeting with Ukraine at Wembley on Sunday, who will be skippered by Oleksandr Zinchenko, while Jorginho heads to Malta for their second fixture three days later.
Kieran Tierney’s Scotland will take on Cyprus and Spain at Hampden Park, who are all in the same group as Martin Odegaard’s Norway. Our skipper will don the armband as his country begin their quest for a first tournament qualification since 1998 when they head to Malaga to face Spain, before crossing the continent for an away game against Georgia.
Also leading out his nation will be Granit Xhaka, who is set to feature in Switzerland’s matches against Belarus and Israel, and Jakub Kiwior could play his part in Poland’s games against the Czech Republic in Prague and Albania in Warsaw.
Leandro Trossard will hope to impress new Belgium manager Domenico Tedesco in matches against Sweden and Germany, while elsewhere in their group Karl Hein’s Estonia go on the road to tackle Hungary in friendly action ahead of their first qualifier against Austria.
Outside of Europe, Thomas Partey has been selected by new Ghana coach Chris Hughton for home and away games against Angola, as qualifying for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations resumes. Both sides are currently tied for top spot in their group after amassing four points from their opening two matches.
Matt Turner meanwhile will hope to help the USA virtually clinch a spot at the 2023 Gold Cup with qualifiers against Grenada and El Salvador, as they look to defend their title. He is joined in the squad by Auston Trusty, who has impressed on loan at Birmingham City and could win his first cap.
Meanwhile, two further players have been selected at under-21 level. Emile Smith Rowe has been picked for England’s friendlies against France and Croatia as they look to build up their preparations for this summer’s U21 European Championship.
Also warming up for the tournament are Portugal, who have selected Fabio Vieira - as well as the on-loan Nuno Tavares - for their encounters against Romania and Norway, while six members of our academy have been selected for England's various age groups.
