Arsene Wenger’s thoughts are with Sir Alex Ferguson as his friend and old rival recovers following a brain haemorrhage.
The former Manchester United manager is in intensive care after emergency surgery on Saturday.
“I was with him on the pitch last week, I went to see him in the box after the game on Sunday [against United],” said Wenger.
“He looked in perfect shape. He told me he’s doing a lot of exercise, he looked very happy, but that kind of accident can happen.
“We wish him very well and that he recovers very, very quickly. He’s a strong man and an optimistic man.”
