Wenger - How we can stop the Fab Four

Salah, Coutinho, Mane, Firmino.

More than 50 years after the Beatles became the original ‘Fab Four’ to emerge from Liverpool, the same term has been coined for Jurgen Klopp’s exciting, attacking quartet.

We got a front-row view of Liverpool’s threat when we slumped to a 4-0 defeat at Anfield in August, and Arsene Wenger knows we’ll have to defend a lot better when the teams meet again on Friday.

“I believe that Liverpool is very good going forward so you need overall a good defensive performance,” said the boss.

“I have to analyse that well and you have to guess a little bit who will play [for Liverpool]. It is not always the same - it depends on their personnel.

“They have plenty of offensive players and, looking at them recently, they have changed a lot their teams so it is difficult to guess. But I will try to see what I do. For me, the most important thing is we turn up with a positive performance. We have been strong at home and it is important we continue to dictate our game at home.”

Ainsley Maitland-Niles is vying for a place on the left of defence, where he’s likely to come up against the free-scoring, in-form Mohamed Salah.

“I don’t have any fears about Ainsley,” said Wenger. “Nor Kolasinac. Both of them are quick and strong and good. Kolasinac will be available for Friday.

“when you have such a long career as I have, you have some defeats unfortunately that hurt you for the rest of your life. I believe what is interesting in football is you always have a time to make up for it.

“When you can put things right, do it. So let’s focus on what is in front of us and turn up on Friday night with a completely different performance.”
