When Danny Welbeck walks out at ANZ Stadium, memories are sure to come rushing back of the two goals he scored there back in 2013.
Playing in front of more than 80,000 people, the England forward was unstoppable in Sydney, striking twice and playing a part in two more goals as Manchester United beat A-League All-Stars 5-1 during their pre-season tour of Asia and Australia.
Welbeck will have the opportunity to play in Sydney again when we fly out for our pre-season tour this weekend, and the 26-year-old can’t wait to meet our Australian fans.
“We played against the A-League All Stars and they had a few decent players who were up for the game,” he told Arsenal Player. “They made it difficult for us.
“I remember getting a couple of goals that day and the fans in the stadium were great. They made it a very good atmosphere for us and it’s something I’m really looking forward to experiencing again when I go back, and I know I’m going to enjoy the occasion.
“It's a great city. The weather was great and the people were very welcoming too. There’s a lot of football fans over there and it was very nice to go on Bondi Beach and have a look around Sydney, and I’ve got fond memories of it. I can’t wait to go back.”
