It was an evening to forget at Anfield on Saturday.
Despite us taking the lead through Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Liverpool beat Bernd Leno five times to extend their unbeaten run in the Premier League.
Our goalkeeper spoke to the media after the game. Scroll down to read what he said:
on the game…
We conceded too many unlucky goals. I think the first goal was so unlucky because there was no danger. Some seconds later, the ball was in our goal. In the first half, we made too many mistakes and Liverpool are a team who can score with every chance. It was an unlucky day for us today.
on the result…
It’s a tough day for us today. We started off quite well but then we conceded two easy goals. Maybe some of the goals were unlucky. I don’t know whether one of the penalties was a foul, but I’m not sure. There were too many easy mistakes.
on missing players with injury…
I don’t think that was the difference today. Of course we conceded five goals but I think we as a team made too many mistakes. We have enough quality, even when somebody is injured. Today injuries were not the problem.
on feeling as though we were punished for mistakes…
Yeah I think so. They are a top team. Last season they reached the Champions League final and today we saw why. They capitalise on every mistake and turn it into a big chance. Today we made too many of these mistakes.
on how we recover from this…
Of course today we’re disappointed, but tomorrow we have to look forward because we have another important game on Tuesday. It’s the first game of the year and on Tuesday we want to beat Fulham at home. We need to win.
on games coming thick and fast…
It’s good that we’ve got a game so soon because today we are very disappointed. Football can change quickly and we hope that we can win again on Tuesday.
