'We were angry, we had to test each other'

It's been a tough couple of week's for our first team.

After two injuries and a red card during our defeat to Manchester City, we surrendered a lead at Brighton & Hove Albion to slip to back-to-back losses in the Premier League.

But we bounced back against Southampton on Thursday and Joe Willock puts it all down to how we have responded in training.

"I enjoyed how much we showed that we're a team, we had two defeats but we had to stick together and fight," he told Arsenal.com. "They had a good spell in the second half for about 20 or 30 minutes and we stayed together as a team and we have to believe in each other and that's what I enjoyed about the performance.

"There was a bit of edge in training, people were a bit angry, we had to test each other, we had to push each other to the limit and try to come out and show it in the game today. I feel like we defended well together and got a clean sheet and scored two goals.

"The edge in training is a good thing. We said that we need to compete after the Brighton game, we need to compete as a team together and that's what we tried to do today. We tried to bring it to the pitch, there's still a long way to go but I feel like the groundroots level that we need to play at first of all if we want to compete."
