‘We have to keep climbing up the ladder’

Joe Montemurro

We may be eight points adrift of table toppers Manchester City but Joe Montemurro has not given up on the Women’s Super League title yet.

Wednesday evening’s win over Liverpool saw us close the gap on the third-placed Reds to just one point and, with 10 games still to play, Montemurro is confident we can continue to climb the league ladder.

“We’re worrying about each game and the importance of playing our football and playing well,” he said. “I believe that the performance and the way we want to play will get the results in the end.

“And as long as these players keep believing we’ll keep fighting. The Yeovil game is another important match. It’s three points we need and three points to keep that climb up the ladder.

“We’re going to go out and play our football and make sure that we get the points. There’s no game in this league that’s easy. There’s a lot of good teams and a lot of good footballers. A lot of well-structured teams that make it very difficult for you.”
