Visit Rwanda Coaching Clinic

Visit Rwanda Coaching Clinic

As part of our partnership with Visit Rwanda, we have been working with the Rwandan Football Federation and Ministry of Sports and Culture to deliver a player development camp to the Rwanda National Academy U17s.

The camp, run by Arsenal Football Development Lead Coach, Simon McManus, was the second player development camp of the partnership and was held at the National Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.

The camp saw 25 players from the academy and their Head Coach take part in practical sessions over the course of five days.

In line with previous Arsenal coaching clinics held in Rwanda in October 2018 (player development camp) and February 2019 (‘coach the coaches’ clinic), this camp has helped to further deepen the knowledge and understanding of the Arsenal coaching philosophy and support the development of football in Rwanda.

Local Rwandan media attended the coaching session to learn more about the football development programme. Simon also met with some of Rwanda’s top social media influencers and Arsenal fans to discuss football tactics and teach them some of Arsenal’s signature skills.

The Arsenal Football Development team will be travelling out to Rwanda two more times this season to run a ‘coach the coaches’ clinic and a women’s only player development camp.
