Our under-21s continue their Premier League 2 play-off campaign with a quarter-final tie away to Manchester City on Saturday, May 3. Kick-off at Joie Stadium is scheduled for 6pm (UK time).
Mehmet Ali’s side made it through to the last eight with a 2-1 win over Newcastle United at Meadow Park. Nathan Butler-Oyedeji’s first half penalty was cancelled out early in the second half, but Khayon Edwards scored a 93rd-minute winner from the spot to send us through.
The Opposition
Like us, Manchester City won 2-1 in their first play-off tie, beating Liverpool in extra time. The Citizens finished top of the Premier League 2 regular season table, two points ahead of Fulham.
Despite their position at the top of the table, City haven’t been in fantastic form; Saturday’s opponents have only won one of their last four games within 90 minutes.
Divin Mubama has been the main threat for City this season, scoring 12 times in just 11 appearances for the under-21s. The striker also scored on his first-team debut in the FA Cup against Salford City.
