Our under-18s are back in Premier League Cup action on Saturday, October 5. We travel to the West Midlands to face Birmingham City in our second group stage match of the Premier League Cup. Kick-off at the Knighthead Training Ground is set for 12pm (UK time).
Our young Gunners are eager to secure a victory after three consecutive 3-3 draws in the under-18s Premier League. In our opening Premier League Cup fixture, Jack Wilshere’s side triumphed 5-3 over Liverpool in a thrilling contest.
A Look at the Opposition
Birmingham’s under-18s may play in the Professional Development League - a tier below the U18s Premier League - but they’re a formidable team. Last season, the Blues topped the North Division before being crowned national champions, edging Charlton Athletic 3-2 in an intense play-off final after extra time.
This season, they’ve started strongly, currently sitting third in the league after nine games, boasting five wins, one draw, and three losses. They come into this match off the back of two solid victories, having recently beaten Barnsley 4-0 and Wigan Athletic 1-0.
However, in their Premier League Cup opener, the Blues suffered a 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace, leaving them at the bottom of the group and in need of points.
